The holidays are a joyful time, but for many, the season can bring mixed emotions. That's why it's important to pause and decompress, says Dr. Anjana Jagpal, a child and adolescent psychologist at NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine. Even brief actions, like taking deep, mindful breaths or practicing gratitude for the small things, can make a big difference when you feel overwhelmed. Another way to nourish your body and mind: Spend quality time with others, which releases mood-boosting oxytocin, also known as the "connection hormone," explains Dr. Jagpal. So come celebrate the season of togetherness by singing carols with the New York Philharmonic, the Harlem Unsung Collective, and fellow New Yorkers.
