From NewYork-Presbyterian, the Official Hospital of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
Incorporating sound, whether ambient music, singing bowls or gongs, with self-massage for your meditation practice can help elevate self-care by adding physiological benefits that go beyond stress relief. Dr. Erin Engle, a psychologist at NewYork-Presbyterian and Columbia, says that self-massage activates the body’s rest-and-relax response, improving circulation, reducing muscle tension, and boosting your immune system, while sound therapy has been shown to enhance cognitive function and help manage pain. Combined with meditation, sound and touch can deepen your relaxation for better physical and emotional healing, so come and set your intention with us at this multifaceted self-care experience.
