Come closer: Bow Echo

A young girl holds a violin

This July, a walk through Hearst Plaza might have led you to an unexpected dance performance. At Summer for the City's Dance Encounters series, innovative choreographers transformed the plaza into a stage for site-specific works in conversation with Lincoln Center's architecture.

One of those performances was Anna Sperber's Bow Echo. Created by Sperber and performed by four dancers alongside four brass musicians, Bow Echo unfolds as a living conversation between movement and sound, where gestures ripple outward, responses emerge in real time, and individual voices gather into a shared whole.

Missed it? You can now revisit this fleeting Summer for the City moment and watch the full performance from home.
